                            Prince David and the 6 enchanted dragons

                      Once upon a time, King George ruled over the kingdom of Laylace.

Laylace had prosperity, courage wit and peace. King George had two daughters Anna and Felici and a son Prince David.

The court had wise ministers. The farmers grew fresh crops and grains. The teachers were wise and students were respectful and curious to learn.

Anna and Felici were kind and pretty girls who liked to make friends but Prince David was always silent because he had been cursed by the witch Boggleton who lived in the frost cave of the Ice Mountain. She had cast spell on the prince that he shall never speak until he defeats the six enchanted dragons.

The court had two talented wizards- Franklin and Blue Star. Their hands were power, their mouths were magic and their legs were the past, present and the future. Blue Star had killed the 9 demons of fire by just clicking his fingers. Franklin had the power to control all the seas of the globe.

But witch Boggleton was not easy to defeat. She had something that no one had or knew: it was RED MAGIC !

                    Many years ago, King George had 4 sisters: Mary, Rosie, Lucy and Boggleton. Boggleton was greedy and cunning. She always wanted more. To teach her a lesson, her father King Peter threw her out of the kingdom. With fire in her heart , Boggleton learnt magic and killed her father King Peter but Prince George had been given the throne so he fought with her and banished her out of the kingdom never to be seen.

         But then 20 years later, King George got married and got a son and 2 daughters. But to take revenge, witch Boggleton disguised herself as a nightingale and came to the king’s palace and sang beautifully. King George was impressed by the nightingale and kept her with him but as night fell, she changed herself as a witch and cast a spell on Prince David. The king tried to kill her but he couldn’t, he could only strike one of her eyes.

         Legend says that Boggleton gets her power from her hair. It also says that Blue Star gets his power from his blue coloured star shaped eyes and Franklin gets his power from his beard.

“How to cure our brother?”asked Anna worriedly.

“By defeating the 6 Holy Dragons”replied Felici.

“But how?” asked Anna.

“It is nearly impossible!”cried Felici.

         They ran to the 2 wizards. They bolted down the wooden chairs into the stone chimney and glided down the marble stairs and reached a rat size platinum door. No one can enter the door because it was so small that only rats can enter. So the only way to get in was by using the magical spell to become tiny and only the wizards, Anna and Felici knew that spell.

         The door’s lock was open! So they came to know that someone was inside! Anna and Felici chanted the spell:“ Grey,Grey,Grey!Colour of clay! Small in the way! Turn me that way!”

After a moment, they both became really small. Anna pushed the door and opened it. She stepped in. Just as she put her foot step inside the room, her size became normal! The same thing happened to Felici.

They saw that their brother was sitting inside the room and learning magic from the 2 wizards. Since Prince David was 6, he had started learning magic. So the 2 girls were not surprised by that thing but they were awestruck by something else.

     Their eyes became wide! It-It was a big vermilion coloured Egg with Blue Polka dots!

                        By that time, Prince David had learnt the day’s lesson and had left the room. The silence remained for a minute and was broken abruptly by Franklin’s question:

“What are you 2 doing here?”

“We came to talk about a very important thing” prompted Felici.

“What is it?” asked Blue Star.

“How to cure our brother?” spilled out Anna.

Felici frowned at her.

“Sorry Mr.Blue Star it’s not that. How will our brother defeat the 6 dragons?” asked Felici.

“By magic” said Blue Star.

Then his eyes fell on the Egg.

“As soon as he masters our magic; on the 15^th day, he will be taught the Dragon Egg Magic move!” said Blue Star.

“What is that Egg?” asked Anna curiously.

“It is the Egg that we have been using for centuries to learn about dragons and the most historical magic move of ancient Laylace, the Dragon Egg Magic Move. This egg is a Dragon Egg. It has one more important role. Its magic can find and control any dragon in the world!” replied Franklin the Great.

“Oh! So you ‘re using this to teach Prince David the Dragon Egg Magic Move!” prompted Anna.

“Exactly!” exclaimed Blue Star.

“Wow!” exclaimed Felici too.

          But then suddenly, a sound came from the egg! IT HAD A CRACK!!

A small dragon wee had popped out from the egg. Felici and Anna had became pale in horror because they had never seen one in their lifetime! They were shivering with fear. But they also saw something weird!

      A flash of light pierced from the egg and entered the Holy Broom of ancient magic! Then their eyes fell on the tiny dragon! It was rolling like a ball on the wooden slab. Suddenly, its eyes too fell on both the girls! After a moment, it flew away!

“What was that Mr Franklin?” asked Anna in confusion.

“Ah! I forgot to tell you. Every 30 days, the egg breaks and a new baby dragon comes out. Then after 15 days it grows and lays another egg and when the egg breaks after 15 days the magical spirit comes out from the egg and gets stored in the holy magical broom.” replied Franklin.

“Wow! But why does this happen?” asked Anna.

Franklin sighed and said” Legend says that long ago, the ancient creator of the dragon egg magic move had made a rule that no one should harm any of the dragons but his brother who was the role model of witch Boggleton, didn’t obey the rule and harmed the dragons. So to defeat him, he took a little bit of power from each dragon and created a dragon by his magic and inserted all the magical powers in it. He used that dragon to defeat his brother. Then one day that dragon laid an egg. When that egg broke, he touched the baby dragon and a little bit of magical power came and got stored in the holy magical broom.

When the other magicians asked him why he had done so, he said that if the dragon falls sick and the enemy arrives at that time, this shall be only used to defeat the foe but if it is used for any other purpose, the whole kingdom will be destroyed. Then he cast a spell so that the magical power could get stored on its own.

“So can you use this to defeat the 6 enchanted dragons?” asked Felici.

“Yes” said Franklin.

“But who is the creator of the dragon egg magic move?” asked Anna.

“No one knows! Only the Legend knows!” said Franklin.

“Mr.Blue Star, you said that as soon as our brother masters your magic, on the 15^th day he will be taught the Dragon Egg Magic Move but you didn’t tell us which 15^th day?” asked Anna.

“The Universe will show the time for it!” replied Blue Star.

                  Felici went close to the Egg and started to examine it. She loved studying objects. The egg was as large as an ostrich’s egg. She had never seen a dragon’s egg before. So she was examining it with full attention, concentration and curiosity. Suddenly, something shiny and sparkling struck her eyes. When a ray of light fell on that thing, it reflected and caused such a dazzling light that it made her almost blind. It was a pearl!

“ Mr Blue Star there is a pearl inside the egg!” exclaimed Felici.

“What! Where is it?” asked Blue Star.

Felici took the pearl and gave it to Blue Star.

       After looking at the pearl, he said “The time has come!” then he saw Anna and spoke “The reply to your question has come. It is this 15^th day!”

Hearing this Anna widened her eyes and gasped.

He took an earthen bowl. He put some sunflower seeds, honey and pink dust. Whoosh! Came an explosive sound! It was like if some big monster had snorted. Then Blue Star put the pearl inside the magic potion. After a moment a cluster of gas rose from it and the 6 dragons and the dangerous Red Hill was shown! Then it disappeared.

Franklin said “Prince David will have to go to the Red Hill at once to defeat the 6 enchanted dragons.” Felici and Anna were dumbstruck. Red Hill was the most terrific and horrible place on the whole Earth. It had volcanoes erupting, meteors falling on the land and making craters, landslides with huge boulders and there was a wide river of crocodiles to cross.

“How would he even get there! It is IMPOSSIBLE!!” cried Anna stressfully.

“Magic can make the impossible Possible” said Frankin.

The time was half past 9. The conversation was quite long.

“Now it’s time for you to leave.” said Franklin.

“Yes sure” replied Felici.

“We shall meet again after 2 weeks” said Blue Star.

Felici and Anna bid goodbye and returned back to their rooms …..

             After 14 days they went back to the wizards. There they saw that Prince David was packing his backpack. They saw the 2 wizards and asked them:

“Why is he packing his things?”

“He is ready” said Franklin.

“For what?” asked Anna.

“For going to the Red Hill and defeating the dragons”.

“Is he going alone?”

“No he will have the Holy Magical Broom with him”.

“Then what about the magical powers from the egg? Where will it get stored? Asked Felici in confusion.

“The magical powers will travel where the magical broom is and will get stored on its own.”

“May we also go with our brother” asked Anna.

Franklin thought for a moment and replied thoughtfully “Yes you may. You could help him with the spells.”

“Yes!” exclaimed both of them joyfully.

               They ran to their rooms and started packing their bags too. They were really excited. They informed their parents that they were going with Prince David.

Everything was ready. They started their journey. All the 3 sat on the saddles of the chest nut horses and started riding. The horses neighed and whoosh! They ran in lightning speed! The galloping sound was heard for a moment but then fainted at a distance……

             There was complete silence in the woods. They could only hear the footsteps of the horses. The bright sunshine was hidden by lianas, wood apple trees and beehives. It was cool and pleasant. They could see the Red Hill from there. Ash and smoke was mixing in the air. They didn’t have much time. It was already noon. But they didn’t know the way! Anna had brought a map. So she took it out and after seeing it she said “We need to keep going straight until we reach the crocodile river.”

 Prince David slapped the back of the horse and took off again in lightning speed. The 2 others followed him. There was fierce determination in their eyes….

                        They went past the mistle-toe meadow, the cherry trees and at last they saw the crocodile river. It was at a distance. But they didn’t stop. The current was high. The water was gushing through the rocks. They could also see the danger clearly! Crocodiles! Instead of slowing down, the 3 speeded up and when they were near, the horses jumped and whoosh! They landed on the other side of the bank! Now, Anna removed the map and said “We need to head towards north west until we reach the frost land.”

Felici and David gasped. Frostland was also an awful place. It had avalanches, stone fall, harsh wind, crystal fall and also a tremendous monster Yeti.

However, Prince David didn’t lose hope. He was earnest. So the 3 slapped the back of their horses and once again in lightning speed…

It was a long journey. They were still on their way. They were really thirsty but they didn’t have a drop of water left! So they stopped near a pool. It had fresh water. It was cool. It reflected the sun’s orangish hue and the sky’s grey clouds. They were mesmerized! But they remembered that they had to reach frost land and it was afternoon already. So they filled their throats with water and settled down on the horses. They slapped the backs and flew off leaving dust behind

              Suddenly they felt the chilled air touching their cheeks. It was windy. The trees were covered with snow and frost. The leaves rusted. The path was soaked with water. The sky as covered with fog and mist. They kept on going. All of a sudden, the land which was rocky and muddy changed to white coloured frost and snow! They had finally reached Frost land!

There was harsh wind and it carried ice that hit their face. They were struggling to move. The horses too couldn’t walk.  So they had to get down and go by walk. Their legs were paining. Their boots had become wobbly due to melted snow and ice. They had worn jackets but still all the 3 were shivering due to the unbearable cold. It was awful!

Felici asked Anna in a fainted voice “Which is the next destination Anna?”

Anna didn’t reply. Felici questioned again. Still no reply. Felici turned back and saw that Anna was gazing at the map. Felici went near her and asked “What is it?”

“Everything is gone!” replied poor Anna.

“What do you mean?” questioned Felici. She snatched the map and saw it. She was dumbstruck!

                    The print had disappeared! The melted snow water had mixed with the ink and had spoiled it. They didn’t know what to do!

Felici showed the map to Prince David and said “Everything is spoiled Brother! What can we do now?”

Suddenly an idea struck David. He took some snow and made a squirrel out of it. He was an expert in making animal forms using anything. He took out his magic wand and circled his hand over the snow figure. The snow squirrel that was still like statue came to life! Prince David tore a piece of paper and wrote something on it before giving it to Felici. He had written:

The squirrel will show us the way!

She read it and then asked “But how will it show us the way?”

He took out his magic wand and did some moves. Then suddenly sparks fell on the head of the squirrel. After some time, it started running and hopping. It was evening. The sun was setting. But they had to reach the Red Hill by night. So they ran behind the squirrel with a sudden boost of energy…..

             They were running on the freezing snow. Their legs were frozen due to the cold. Suddenly, the squirrel stopped. The land was shaking. Was it an earthquake? No. it wasn’t!  A dark shadow popped from the mist and fog. It was white and furry. It had green eyes, stiff gums and sharp teeth. It was the Yeti!

              The squirrel hopped and ran as fast as possible. The 3 also followed it. The Yeti was trying to catch them. Prince David took out his magic wand and made everyone invisible to the Yeti! They kept following the squirrel …They could hear the roar of the beast. They had a narrow escape!

              The squirrel was running without wasting even a second. It suddenly entered a cave. The 3 also followed it. The squirrel then jumped in a hole and vanished! They didn’t know what to do next! So they also jumped into that hole. It was too dark inside. They had no feeling that they were falling.

               Suddenly, they fell on hot sand. It was so hot that it was like the Earth was boiling. There was light, plenty of light. They woke up and saw: they had reached the Red Hill! It was day there. They couldn’t believe it! At that time the volcano exploded and small rocks fell on the land. Prince David suddenly remembered the 6 enchanted dragons.

He saw that the squirrel was eating nuts. He went near it and touched its head. It started walking and the Prince followed it. The 2 sisters followed them.

After a while, the squirrel stopped in front of a cave and ran away. David understood that the beasts were inside. The cave had enough light so they didn’t have any difficulty entering. They kept on walking inside the cave.

Suddenly, Prince David saw some figures were sleeping: they were the enchanted dragons! He took out his sword and tiptoed but by mistake a small rock kicked by him, hit one of the dragons’ eyes. This made all the dragons wake up and roar.

“They are more fierce than I thought !” said Anna.

Prince David acted swiftly and killed all the dragons with his sword. Their spirits came and went inside his body. At last he had the freedom to speak!

“Shall we go home?” were the first words he spoke!

“Of course Brother!” said his 2 sisters happily.

He removed the Holy Magical Broom and did the Dragon Egg Magic Move. Then he said “Take us back home”. They closed their eyes and within seconds, they were back home!

Everyone was waiting for them eagerly. Everybody was happy to see Prince David coming back home with victory. Anna told the whole story to everybody. After listening to this, they all praised the courage of the 3 brave children. They all lived happily ever after!

                                                THE   END
